Normally, I don’t shoot family portraits aside from wedding days. It’s not the I don’t like them, but since I don’t shoot them, people never ask me. But when they do ask, I say: sure, but…I have to warn you that I don’t take the typical family portraits. What do I mean? Well, after one or two photos of you looking at the camera, I move on. Since Isabella was born, I have been documenting our lives together. As a newborn, I took lots and lots of portraits of her. I played doll with her, and I dressed her in every cute outfit I found…pink bow on her head and all. But once she started walking, she taught me to be a different kind of family photographer. Isabella taught me to capture the little moments, the laugher, the joy. The photos where she is having fun, and show the silliness of our family became my favorite photos, and my most cherish possession.
In a way, she re-programmend me, and I like it this way. So when Rachel asked me to take photos of her family, I gave her my usual warning, she still agreed, and I was glad. We really had a great time taking photos of this beautiful family. Ellie is absolutely adorable, and the camera LOVES her.
