New York Wedding Photographer

If couples ask as me to describe my style, all I can say is that my wedding photography is vibrant and happy. I’m Gabriela Fuentes, and I’m a New York Wedding Photographer telling love stories through for sweet and happy couples. For those of you who want to know about me, what can I say? …. I’m easy going and I like to have fun with my brides. I’m a storyteller, and I read a bedtime story to my three year old every night. I love chocolate and I’m a spend more time in FB that I like to admit.

What makes you different than other wedding photographers? That’s easy, let me have my New York brides tell you:

“When I first met with Gaby I’ve already met with a few NYC photographers. Her presence, professionalism and warm aura was evident the moment I walked into her office. Something I didn’t get with other photographers I’ve met…. ” – Martine, New York City, New York

Please feel free to browse through my New York Wedding Photographer site. Here you will find my wedding photography gallery and my Blog. In my blog, you can see photos from my most recent New York weddings, and my personal ramblings. Thank you for stopping by!

Girl Jumping - New Jersey Child Photography

To childhood friendships and second generations – Photo of the week

Once upon a time, there were two four year old girls who met in Kindergarden. During the next thirteen years, these two girls became inseparable as they went through elementary, junior high and high school together. We were like peas and carrots; peanut butter and jelly. We were both only child, and we understood each other even when we didn’t say a word, although most of the time, we couldn’t stop talking. Our conversations were about nothing and everything. There were always interesting and never boring. Both our moms pushed us to reach for the stars, and we believed there was nothing we couldn’t do if we put our minds, hearts and souls and worked hard towards it.

A few weeks ago, I saw my dear friend Alicia after sooooo many years, emphasis in many years, and I can’t say how happy that made me. An added special bonus was to see her daughter Arianita and my Isabella together. It reminded me of us, of that special time in our lives.

This photo of Arianita represents all of that. It captures that innocence of our childhood friendship; our freedom; our happiness, that desire to reach for the stars and our Joie de Vivre.

Diana and John Beach Engagement Photography at Jersey Shore NJ

This weekend, we headed out to the Jersey Shore for some super hot and romantic jersey shore engagement photos. Diana and John met in Belmar, so they picked this beach as the backdrop for their engagement photos, and we couldn’t be happier. Diana said she was nervous, but where there is love, the emotions will follow, and this couple is seriously in love, and that is what we were set to capture.

Maternity Session – Kisha

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Kisha of Pure Ambiance for over a year now, and it’s been a blast working with her in some many weddings and some awesome events. Over the months, I’ve seen her belly grow, and I’ve seen her wobble. I’ve followed her tweets with her cravings, and the not so good days. In all, it’s been nice to follow her pregnancy, and it was even better to photograph her maternity session, and to capture her joy and that of her family.

Today, I’m thrilled to hear that she is finally in labor now… so I thought it would be a great opportunity to post a photo of her recent maternity photography session. Congratulations Kisha!!!!

Documentary Portraiture Photographer - Restore NYC - Support Freedom

Helping others through photography – Restore Freedom

Earlier this year, I was burnt out, emotionally, physically and creatively. I questioned myself creatively while I juggled the balance between my professional and my personal life. Wedding Photography is rewarding but very time consuming, and when I’m not shooting a wedding, my time is consumed by photo processing, editing, customer service, and marketing. But where did my creativity go? I was a photographer turned business owner, and I felt a longing in my heart.

As an artist, I felt I was hitting rock bottom, and artistically, I lost a sense of purpose.

Luckily, through on online forum, I became involved on a video project for Restore NYC. Restore is a nonprofit dedicated to restoring freedom and empowering survivors of sex trafficking by providing them a place they can call home and where they can start a healing process. I was the still photographer of this project, and I got to meet some wonderful people who are committed in helping these amazing women. Working on this project and doing documentary portraiture was very gratifying, and seeing the finished video, I felt a sense of pride because I know my photos are part of an effort to help these women by supporting their freedom. Slavery in any way, shape or form is simply not right, and we can help stop it by supporting organizations such at this. If you want to become involved or donate, you can do so here.

Photoshop and my obsession with Exit Signs

Ok, so I have to confess that I have several obsessions. Neatness is one of them. Yes, I fold grocery bags in tiny perfect triangles, and recycle them. And don’t even get me started on recycling and plastic, but at least, I can excuse myself saying that I care about pollution. But this one obsession would make the fire department seriously mad. Exit Signs on wedding photos!! I confess, I don’t like them, and yes, they are necessary and save lives in case of an emergency, but they drive me mad. You see, I don’t really notice exit signs, until I see them hanging over my gorgeous brides’ heads as they’re walking down the aisle, or as couples make their big entrance during their reception. Look up, there are there, and there are everywhere. Big red lights that take my attention away from my main subject. I wish there were like vampires who don’t up when you photograph them, but they do. So I decided that if I can’t beat them…I can Photoshop them.

Here, I removed the Exit Sign from the photo on the right using the cloning tool in Photoshop.

Then I decided to play a bit and removed the guest standing in the background. I used the clone tool on the left photo.  The on the right photo, I created several layers where I brushed in color, using the sample tool, to smoothen it out. I added some glass effect, and then some grain to match the rest of the photo.

But it’s now too even, so I will let this image rest for a while, and I will continue editing the background tomorrow and then blend all layers. It’s like painting, it needs different coats! Now you see why I don’t like exit signs. They make me put a photo under the microscope, so what started as, let me remove the Exit sign ended up in a 10 layer PS file.

… to be continued.

Good-bye Michael

I met him once, but a dear friend of mine cared enough about Michael for me to be touched by this. Michael passed away and my friend is heartbroken. As her heart heals and she picks up the pieces, she regrets not having a recent photo of him. That taught me a valuable lesson, photograph everything and everybody, you never know when it would be the last chance.

To Michael…

Brenda and Ryan’s Wedding Video Highlight – NJ Wedding Videographer –

NJ Wedding Videographer

Brenda & Ryan’s Wedding highlight shot and edited by nj wedding videographer Danny.

Their wedding, held at Palisadium, was beautiful and flawless. Their portrait photos were shot at Exchange Place in Jersey City. Their ceremony was hosted by Reverend Maureen Jeffries from One Beautiful Day. She held one of the most beautiful ceremonies I have seen. The reception was hosted by Chris Chen from Chris Chen Studios. Chris, Cher Jia Sun and Billy Chung kept the party up beat and the guest very entertained.

Photography was done by nj wedding photographer Gabriela Fuentes from The Wedding Central.

It was amazing that Brenda created every detail for her wedding, decorations, invitations, etc. Even though, they are chinese, their wedding kept a traditional western style except for the tea ceremony.

Knowing how Brenda and Ryan are, I could say that they will share a lovely and amazing live together.

Regards,

Danny

The Palisadium NJ Wedding – Brenda and Ryan Wedding photos

Brenda and Ryan were married at the Palisadium in Cliffside Park. Overlooking the New York City skyline, they promised to love each other in one of the most beautiful and personal ceremonies. Reverend Maureen Jeffries created a custom ceremony that described this lovely couple and the love they feel for each other. Brenda, as everyone describes her, is a beautiful, independent and a strong woman, and Ryan is head over heels for her. Not only is she strong, but she is a great cook, so they decided to spice up their wedding with a recipe for a perfect marriage. A dash of oregano, a little bit of thyme, tarragon, savory and a pinch of basil.
